The history of the Prieuré Corrèze
A place rich in history for gathering and resting.
The main building, now home to Le Prieuré Corrèze, was erected at the end of the 19th century to become the Notre-Dame school. It was two nuns from the congregation of the Sacred Heart of Mary who took charge of it.
During the Second World War, the boarding school became a voluntary hospital. It was in 1933 that the chapel was built on the south side of the building.
In 1943, to meet the needs of the time, the construction of an annex building was initiated, and a domestic science school was established to provide theoretical and practical knowledge to wives within the context of family life.

During these 35 years of hotel life, this exceptional place hosted numerous political and event-related gatherings.
The Chirac couple enjoyed meeting here to organize political and diplomatic meetings.
Thus, in 1998, Mrs. Clinton and part of the American delegation stayed at the hotel at the invitation of Mrs. Chirac.

Other foreign delegations and political events were hosted within the hotel’s premises, not to mention the stays of artistic personalities such as Johnny Hallyday and Jean Carmet.
Mrs. Chirac enjoyed staying at this establishment during her many visits to Corrèze.
The room 18, whose windows offer a clear view of the village of Corrèze that the First Lady of the time cherished so much, was reserved for her.
